The best part of the annual Game Awards, the industry’s equivalence to the Oscars, isn’t the awards. It’s become the prime winter announcement event, sometimes outshining E3 for fantastic announcements. And this year’s Game Awards, Dec. 9 in Los Angeles, did not disappoint.
The show opened with a bang, or maybe more of a boom, as someone beat rhythmically on a drum. Surprisingly, that drumming heralded the upcoming “Star Wars Eclipse,” a new narrative adventure from developer Quantic Dream. The studio behind the 2018 hit “Detroit: Become Human” is known for making graphically beautiful games with stories that branch off in unexpected ways.
“Star Wars” recently established the High Republic Era, which has so far only been portrayed in books and comic books. The setting of “Eclipse” will be the first chance for fans to see a fully realized rendering of the time…
