Two defendants named in an October lawsuit have described new allegations made by Paul Maines, known for his ongoing lawsuit focused on the province’s failed e-gaming initiative in the early 2010s, as “a fabrication” in new court filings.
Allan Campbell, who served as a chief of staff to former premier Robert Ghiz from 2011 to 2015, and Chris LeClair, who served as Ghiz’ chief of staff from 2007 to 2011, have jointly filed a statement of defense against allegations made in Maines’ newest lawsuit, filed in October. The statement was filed on Dec. 2 in the P.E.I. Supreme Court.
Maines’ lawsuit alleges both LeClair and Campbell held secretive meetings with Premier Dennis King and several other individuals related to plans involving a U.K. online gaming company called Gamesys.
