Fremont stuns No. 1 Davis
Prior to Tuesday night top-ranked Davis had escaped some close calls in keeping its perfect season going. The good luck ran out at Fremont.
Fremont held Davis to just five points in the fourth quarter as it pulled off the 50-48 upset as Boston Hadley covered a reverse lay-up with one second remaining.
“We were connected. Our second chance points were huge! We rebounded the ball well. We played hungry and we played for each other,” said Fremont coach Corey Melaney
The loss snapped a 28-game winning streak for 6A defending state champion Davis.
Fremont only shot 43 percent compared to 53 for Davis, but Fremont controlled the glass with 11 offensive rebounds as it enjoyed a staggering 19-1 edge in second-chance points.
Hunter Hansen led Fremont with 11 points and seven rebounds.
