Accessibility in video games is continuing to be an important and integral part of the entertainment medium. There have been major improvements with accessibiltiy in games, as new features work toward the ultimate goal of allowing anyone and everyone to enjoy games together. Recently, the second annual Video Game Accessibility Awards was held, and games like Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and Guardians of the Galaxy took home awards.
The 2021 Video Game Accessibility Awards took place yesterday. A stream that was hosted by Alanah Pearce – along with the help of AbleGamers COO Steve Spohn – the awards lasted nearly an hour and a half and covered topics such as remapping abilities, skip sections, and readable text. Triple-A games made big steps in 2021, but so did some indie titles as well.
