Gus Smith has been on the opposite sideline from the Gordo Green Wave on multiple occasions.
Not anymore.
Smith, a former defensive coordinator at Mobile Christian, has been named Gordo’s new head football coach. He replaces Ryan Lolley, who left to take the job at Northridge High School.

“Gordo is a great opportunity for me and my family,” Smith told AL.com. “We have been in some battles with them over the years, so I’ve kept up with their program closely.
“They just get it. They have a great band and great community support. After beating them in 2016 in the semifinals, I genuinely felt bad for those kids and coach Lolley. You can tell they are a close family, and there is a lot of love in that program.”
