The Army’s Training and Doctrine Command has selected San Antonio as host city for the 2022 Department of Defense Warrior Games, a competition that draws more than 300 wounded, ill or injured athletes from across the U.S. armed services and those of many allied nations.
The games were scheduled for San Antonio last year but canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“While disappointed with the cancellation of the 2020 Games, this announcement is welcome news for our community,” Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in a city press release, promising “a world-class event showcasing our great city, our military partners and the community supporters who call San Antonio home.”
