Kirstin Brooks said Eric Talley was very protective, “everything a big brother was supposed to be.”
“If I got in trouble as a kid, he always took it — he said, ‘No, no, no, it was me,’ ” Brooks told The Post. Her brother, a 51-year-old Boulder police officer, was one of 10 killed on Monday. Talley was among the first responders to run in the door when the gunman opened fire inside the grocery store.
Brooks, 49, recalled one time when they were younger, she was getting picked on while waiting on the front lawn of her school. Talley, almost three years older than her, pulled up to the school, ran out of the car and shouted, “Nobody messes with my little sister,” scaring off the people bothering her, before turning to tease her with a question: “What did you get yourself into?”
