You’ll probably have heard the news by now, but Elden Ring has sold more than 12 million copies to date, which is a pretty astonishing figure for a game of its ilk. Publisher Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware will be ecstatic with both the sales figures and the game’s general reception — it’s been almost overwhelmingly successful.
As part of the press release announcing the sales numbers comes a statement of intent that’s rather interesting. There’s now a promise of more from the Elden Ring universe, and it sounds as though it’ll extend outside the core game and into other media.
“Please look forward to more of [Elden Ring] as an IP (characters and other intellectual property) in hopes of expanding beyond the realm of games,” the press release reads.
