Downloadable content was nothing new, coming into the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation, but it was elevated to a new level over the last seven years. Once a target for player backlash against overpriced content, DLC has become much more welcomed. It’s often a requested feature, as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players want to continue playing great games, and the strength of the additional content often justifies the cost.
