10-year-old hit by gunfire while in bedroom playing video games in West End

A 10-year-old was hit by a bullet when shots were fired in the West End Thursday.It happened around 9:30 p.m. when shots struck a 35-year-old man and a 10-year-old who was playing video games in his bedroom.”It’s such a sad situation, totally innocent, totally involved in his own activities in his own home in his bedroom and he was struck by a round that traveled through the house that was fired outside,” District One Captain Matt Hammer said.It’s the second time this week a situation like this has happened.”So this is one of the most frustrating things that we respond to, I think it pulls at all of our hearts when we have a kid engaged in his own activities ends up being harmed by gun violence,” Hammer said.In response, the police department brought some gifts that were assembled to make him smile.
