Destiny 2’s free “next-gen” upgrade is now available, allowing owners of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to play the game in higher fidelity on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. But because of the PS5’s clunky interface, it’s a lot more complicated and annoying to download the upgrade on Sony’s new console.
Because Destiny 2 is part of Microsoft’s Smart Delivery program, everything just works — if you’re on an Xbox Series X or Series S, your console will automatically download the upgrade. (If you already have the Xbox One version installed and have been playing it via backward compatibility, your console will download the upgrade as a patch, although it’ll effectively be re-downloading the entire game in a 67 GB file.)
On the Sony side, things aren’t as simple.
