A number of local organizations are benefitting from some provincial funding this season.
Thanks to the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, approximately $1.5 million was distributed during the latest quarter through their charitable gaming grants.
Saskatchewan’s Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health, Everett Hindley, said more than 700 provincial groups and organizations are receiving funds.
“How this works is groups that conduct licensed charitable gaming activities, like bingos, raffles, those sorts of things, they’re all eligible,” he said. “And what happens is they are eligible to receive a grant equal to 25% of the net revenues raised from these activities up to a maximum grant of $100,000 annually. But these are important revenues that go back to support these local organizations.”
