Do you have a phone? That’s the question you’ll be asking yourself (and no, not because of Blizzard) next year. Mobile games continue to expand and create their own niche in the video game market. What started with a big game here and there, like Angry Birds, CandyCrush has now begun to attract whales. Nintendo, the last company anyone thought would expand their IP to mobile, has even done it.
Games like Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp brought well-known characters along for the trip. As mobile games become a larger aspect of people’s travel requirements, the games will get larger, and maybe even less predatory. The already-released-in-Japan mobile game KonoSuba: Fantastic Days will expand worldwide next year.
