Intense shooting games such as Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, and Apex: Legends could help prevent heart attacks thanks to their stress-busting effects during and after play.
Researchers at the University of Leeds conducted a study called ‘Your Body on eSports‘. 32 gamers aged 20-26 were hooked up to heart rate monitors and asked to play some of their favourite games before filling in a stress and anxiety questionnaire afterwards.
While all gamers reported lower stress levels regardless of which game had been played, the classic tactical shooter Counter-Strike had the largest impact in terms of reducing stress levels and heart rates.
