After a year-long absence, fans are set to return to Spartan Stadium for the first time since the 2019 season. The players, who have grown used to the deafening silence of playing football in the era of COVID-19, are ready to welcome back Spartan Nation.
Head Coach Mel Tucker is eager to play in front of a full stadium again. He believes having the fans and spirit squads at games is what makes college football great.
“They’re excited, and they’re ready to go, and that’s definitely going to make a difference for us,” Tucker said.
The players appear just as ready to get full stadiums back. Defensive end Drew Beesley is excited; he believes fans bring a boost of energy in critical situations. It means the world to him that Spartan Nation has the team’s back.
